Herbert has spent over a decade running his own cabinet shop, where he mastered everything from project management to client relations. Later, he spent five years coordinating operations for a lumber brokerage, gaining deep insights into inventory management, logistics, and office efficiency. Along the way, he even invented a cabinet hardware solution, Fastblock, which was adopted by Fastcap—proof of his ability to solve problems with creativity and precision. While he no longer builds cabinets, he still enjoys channeling his creativity into designing cabinet layouts.
In addition to consulting through HM Consulting, Herbert also works with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as a business advisor, where he supports entrepreneurs in developing strategies, organizing their operations, and building sustainable growth plans. Whether working with the SBDC or his own clients, he is known for his down-to-earth approach and is passionate about making business feel easier and more rewarding for small business owners. He also enjoys simplifying life for others—whether teaching tech classes for seniors at the local library or assisting with tasks within his skill set, such as website building through website builders or other practical solutions he’s confident in.
